Petrykivka is famous folk art and unique style of decorative
painting from. Ukraine Belief founded by Cossack
Petryk. Been practiced in the village of Petrykivka in the Dnipropetrovsk
region. Stylized flowers and guilder rose are the most popular motif. Earlier
this kind of painting were mostly for murals on the walls (both inside and
outside). But nowadayswe can see it in paper, wood panels, or canvas.
Mineral pigmentd were used for making paints and instead of
brushes, they use twigs or even fingers to apply the paint into te primed
walls. Three colors were predominant – red, yellow (yellow green), and dark
blue. And because I got rooster, the meaning is stand for fine and spiritual
awakening.
It’s become in UNESCO list on 25 December 2013 for intangible
heritage.
