MODERN TULIP

This card also from 2014 :p
It show modern tulip that sent by Maria J
Tulips are spring- blooming perennials taht grow from bulbs. Depending on the species, tulip plants can be between 4 inches and 28 inches. The word tulip, first mentioned in western europe around  1554 and seemingly derived from the “Turkish Letters” of diplomat Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq.

Tulips are called Laleh in Persian, Turkish, and Arabic. In Arabic letters Laleh is written with the same letters as Allah, which is why the flower become a holy symbol. That’s why in the tiles, mosque, fabrics etc appeared lots of motifs of tulips. But tulips is famous a Netherland’s national flower. Because in Netherlands we can find lots of tulips and also lots of the variant J

Thank you for the postcard Maria, dan je wel !!

Calendula officinalis

Calendula or Marigold, very beautiful flower :). it's from Asteraceae family, same with daisy family ( yeah yeah I still enjoy the Biology class, haha). Calendula is from Latin language Calen dae meaning Little clock, Little calender. It can be planted in Southwestern Asia, Western Europe, and Mediterranean. I just know that Marigold is refers to virgin Mary, haha.

The flower used for cosmetics, culinary ( for soup and make color in chesse/ butter, also for tea of course) and for medicinal use ( stop bleeding, prevent infection, antiseptic, and detoxify liver and gall bladder).

Romans and Greeks used the golden Calendula in the rituals and ceremony. In India the flower used to decorate Hindu statues.

Dank je wel Sissy!

Okay back to the card, haha. you can see that the mushroom is Amanita muscaria ( hmm beautiful name). It's also called fly agaric or fly Amanita. Usually it's red with white spotted color. To cook it, you can boil it to reduce the poison in it ( yepz do not be fooled by its name and color :p). It have hallucinogen effect when eaten overdose. But nowadays with modern treatment the effect can be minimalized :).
