Lake Taupo is a lake in the North
island of new Zealand. With a surface area of 616 km2, it’s the
largest in New Zealand.
It is drained by the Waikato river (
the longest in New Zealand). The lake famous for the trout fishery, the brown
and rainbow trout. Every year lots of tourist come to this lake, over 2
million. The busiest time is the summer season around christmast and new year.
This Maori rock craving (you can see in the postcard) is located inn the north
west side of the lake. It created by Matahi Whakataka- Brightwell and John
Randall in 1970s. The 10 meter high carving is intended to protect Lake Taupo
from volcanic activities underneath.
Thank you so much Jeanette, for the
interesting postcard J, I really
love it!
