Pride & Prejudice

Serena thank you again for this maximum card!! I really love it, you're very generous :D.

I'm big fan of Jane Austen ( and we both alike, cos prefer Persuasion haha). I just can't resist  Captain Wentworth's charm, hehehe.

Okay.. okay, back to the postcard. this postcard made by Royal Mail in 21 February 2013 to celebrated 200 years of Jane Austen's book. And the stamp designed by Webb & Webb Design Limited featuring illustration by Angela Barrett, printed by Pureprint group. In this series also made other stamps/ postcard from other books by Austen, Persuasion, Emma, Mansfield Park, Sense & Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey.

I just hope if I can't get all of it maybe someone would send me the Persuasion one, please?? hehe.

HIGHER BOCKHAMPTON

Higher Bokhampton is the bithplace for Thomas Hardy, novelist from UK ( one of my favorite, haha). He born here on 2 June 1840 and died 11 January 1928. In this home he wrote Under The Greeenwood Tree ( 1872) and Far from The Madding Crowd (1874), another from his novel that maybe very famous are Tess of d' Urbervilles, The Poor Man and The Lady, Desperate Remedies, A Pair of Blue Eyes, The Return of The Native etc. But for me my favorite are Two on a Tower and The Mayor of Casterbridge. I really adore his written, some romance with tragical ending, hehe. That's really my thing :D.

By the way the cottage located in Dorset county and the home right now become tourist spot and everyday open from 11.00 - 17.00. Wish one day I can visit there :).

Thank you so much for this lovely postcard, serena!! :D

Hrad Loket

Loket castle is 12th century gothic style castle located about 12 km from Karlovy Vary in Czech Republic. It's surrounded by Onre river in 3 sides. The castle administered by Loket castle foundation in 1993 and nowadays become national museums. The castle is one of the oldest and most valuable in Czech. every year Czech national opera held an opera festival in an outdoor amphiteather with the castle at the background.

I think in Indonesia we do the same thing with Prambanan temple as a background for Ramayana ballet, hehe.

Thank you for this postcard Murght!

CARTWHEEL GALAXY

My favorite theme again :D.
Cartwheel also known as ESD 350- 40 is a lenticular galaxy and ring galaxy about 500 million light years in the constellation Sculptor, estimated 150.000 light years across, has a mass 2.9–4.8 × 109 solar masses, and rotates at 217 km/s. The galaxy discovered in 1941 by Fritz Zwiky.

Thank you so much for this amazing postcard Tammy!!
I really love it and also the stamps with Mercury project picture.. :D

FACHWERKHAUSER

Timber framing are method of building with heavy timbers rather than lumber,. Half timbered is a lattice of panels filled with a non loadbearing material infill of brick noggin or wattle andaud ( or similar methods), the frame is often exposed on the outside of the building. Usually the German fachwerkhaus has a foundation of stone or sometimes brick up to several feet and then the timber frame work  supports an irregular wodden sill. The benefits of the construction are : rapidly erected, lend itself well to prefabrication, lends well to be pre- fitting the frame, the frame can be encased, it can be tailored to suits customer, it can use recycled etc. But this also have disadvantage such us, slanting, poor prevention of cappilary movement of water, eaves that are too narrow or non- existent, too much exterior detailing that does not allow adequate rainwater run- off, noise from footsteps, wood burn etc.

So with all the list above, maybe it's not good to build that kind of home in indonesia, hehe.

Many thank you Jutta for this postcard!!!
