Kazan, Kremlin is the chief historic
citadel of Tartarstan and located in Kazan. It was built at the behest of Ivan
the terrible. In there many old buildings could be found, the oldest was built
in 1554-1562 named Annunciation Cathedral. Also the Soyembika tower and
Spasskaya tower. And the one in the picture is the largest mosque in Europe
(outside from Istanbul), Qol Sharif mosque J.
The mosque is completed in 2005. This
building is in the complex too and become the most important symbols of Tartar
aspirations. Nowadays the
mosque become a museum of Islam.
The complex of Kazan become UNESCO
World Heritage Sites in 2000.
