This picture is the old town hall of Pori. It was completed in 1841
by the design of German architect, Carl Ludvig engel. The old town hall served
untill 1961. Today it used by the city tourist office and othe city officials.
This building is one of the few in Pori that was saved from great fire in 1852.
In 1891 had been rebuilt, you can see the pediment curia Arctopolis in Latin
that meaning the court of Pori . the latin Arctopolis is a translation of
“Bjorneborg” the name of city in
Swedish. In 2008 the statue of the founder of Pori, John III of Sweden , was
revealed by the old town hall.
